May, 13: Swiggy India’s pioneering on-demand convenience platform, revealed how the spirit of Mother’s Day (May 10, 2026) translated into a massive surge in demand on Swiggy, with overall food delivery orders growing by 26.24% compared to Mother’s Day last year (11 May, 2025).
The day of indulgence kicked off when the clock struck midnight, with a customer in Hyderabad placing the first cake order of the day- at 00:04 am. This set the pace for an exciting day of celebration, and Swiggy delivered an average of 13,039 cakes every hour across India, making cakes the most ordered dessert on this special day. The national demand for cakes peaked in the evening, with close to 30,000 cakes delivered between 7-8pm. Also, 636 cakes were ordered in a single minute at 7:49pm!
While Bengaluru and Mumbai dominated the demand for cake orders, together accounting for close to 60,000 orders, the enthusiasm was equally vibrant from emerging cities. Patna and Dehradun recorded the highest number of cake orders amongst these cities. A customer from Patna ordered 8 Baked Cheese Cakes and another customer in Dindigul (Tamil Nadu) celebrated the occasion by ordering 15 Honey cakes in one go.
The celebration also moved to the country’s finest restaurants, with Swiggy Dineout recording a 30.1% growth in bookings compared to Mother’s Day last year. This shift was characterized by a massive 71.8% surge in fine-dining reservations, proving the indulgence-appetite of consumers while celebrating special occasions. Bengaluru seated the highest number of diners nationally, followed by Delhi and Hyderabad, which saw one-week growth surges of 50% and 31.4% respectively. The momentum extended to emerging markets as well, with Ahmedabad seating the highest number of diners, followed by Jaipur and Chandigarh.
A customer in Bengaluru spent Rs 112,459 on Swiggy Dineout- the single highest billing in the country on Mother’s Day. Another customer in Varanasi spent INR 106,653 in a single booking on Swiggy Dineout, underscoring that the spirit of celebration was not limited to metro cities. Together, customers across India saved over Rs 6.9 crores through Swiggy Dineout on Mother’s Day!
