Sometimes, a character does not just return to a show it returns with a new face, new energy, and a new journey. Sun Neo’s popular show Prathaon Ki Odhe Chunri: Beendani is all set to bring back the powerful character of Ramkudi, this time portrayed by Sonia Singh. Recently, the actress spoke about how taking on a character with an already established identity is never easy, but it also comes with its own set of challenges and responsibilities.
Talking about taking up the role, Sonia Singh shares, “When this show came to me, I was honestly very excited but also a little nervous because Ramkudi is a character the audience already knows. Taking over a well-known role is a big challenge, so it was very important for me to understand Ramkudi deeply and deliver an equally strong, or even more energetic, performance. When I received the script, I asked many questions to the director and tried to understand the character properly — her body language, the way she speaks, her behaviour, and her language. Since this is my first Rajasthan-based story, doing a detailed character study became extremely important for me.”
She further adds, “As I started understanding Ramkudi, I strongly felt that I had to play this character. She is bold, strong, and manipulative, which made the role very interesting for me. Once I understood her journey, saying yes to the show came naturally. I have tried to bring my own style while staying true to the essence of Ramkudi. Since the audience already knows this character, I have put in extra effort so that they can connect with her again. I truly hope the viewers accept me as Ramkudi and shower the same love on her return.”
