New Delhi, August 14, 2026: India’s merchandise exports reached a record $44.24 billion in July, registering nearly 19.6 per cent growth from a year earlier, despite disruptions in global supply chains and heightened geopolitical uncertainty.
The strong performance has been welcomed by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), which said the numbers demonstrate the resilience, competitiveness and adaptability of Indian exporters. FIEO President S.C. Ralhan noted that businesses have continued to respond quickly to changing global market conditions.
Exports of engineering products, electronics, petroleum products and marine goods contributed significantly to the July performance. India’s merchandise exports during April-July 2026-27 rose 17.04 per cent to $173.78 billion, while combined merchandise and services exports increased 13.16 per cent to $316.42 billion.
FIEO has called for continued policy attention to logistics, export finance, MSMEs and market diversification to sustain the momentum. The industry body believes strengthening these areas will be crucial for Indian companies seeking to expand their footprint in an increasingly competitive global trade environment.
The July figures underline the growing ability of Indian exporters to navigate external shocks while tapping opportunities across diverse international markets. However, rising freight costs and supply-chain pressures remain key challenges that could influence export competitiveness in the months ahead.
